The course for the NIKE Marathontest 1 Sunday, February 5 is now up to date and measured by the Danish Athletic Federation. Like every year, Start and finish is on Østerbro at Gunnar Nu Hansens Plads, and the 10 km course runs in and around the Fælledparken.

Sunday we kick-start this years running season with the NIKE Marathontest 1 in Østerbro, Copenhagen.
If you’re keen on running, it’s not at all too late to register. You can register online until 6 pm the day before race day. Late deciders can even register on race day in the Information in Sparta Hallen from 8 am. For late entries an additional fee of 20 DKK is charged.
Don’t forget, if you sign up for all three testruns at the same time, you save 50% which means you get the testrun 3 (Half marathon) for free.
Time for a pair of new running shoes? The shoes are a runner’s most important piece of equipment, but it’s difficult to choose just the right pair without being able to test them in action beforehand.
If you are running the NIKE Marathontest 1 on Sunday, you have the opportunity to do just that. NIKE will be at the race giving you the chance to choose a pair of running shoes that you would like to test on the 10K course.
Just show up well in time and bring your old running shoes, and NIKE will help you find just the pair of shoes for you to wear in the race. NIKE will be in the Sparta Hallen as of 8.45 am – look for the red pavillon.
At the upcoming NIKE Marathontest 1 there will be two hydrationstations on the course, one at 3,5 km and another at 5,8 km, offering water and Powerade energy drink.
Water and Energy drink is also offered in the finish area along with bread, hot chocolate and fruit.
You can still register for the NIKE Marathontest 1, which takes place on Sunday, February 5, 9.30 am. Remember, by signing up for all three test races at the same time, you get a reduced price.
An updated course for the Nykredit Copenhagen Marathon 2012 is now ready. This years course is very similar to previous years and contains only minor changes.
As every year it will be a flat and fast course, giving runners the chance to experience the most beautiful parts of Copenhagen as they run through the historic city center, alongside the harbourfront, round parks and pass beautiful historic buildings and landmarks – just to mention a few highlights. Start and finish area is once again at Islands Brygge.
Please be aware that the course may be subject to changes.
To Managing director in Sparta, Dorte Vibjerg, running is not only her job. For the next months she will devote more or less her entire time to running while training to qualify for marathon at the Olympic Games in London this summer. Right now Dorte is in South Africa to cut off the 14 seconds required for her to qualify for the Games from July 27 – August 12.
We are excited to follow Dorte on her way towards the Olympics. The newspaper Børsen also wrote an article about Dorte (only in Danish) – read it here
The main sponsor of Copenhagen Marathon 2012, Nykredit, has distributed 10×2 tickets for the Nykredit Copenhagen Marathon 2012, and the winners have now been drawn. Congratulations to the lucky future marathon runners – we wish them all the best in their training and preparations towards May 20.
We are working at full throttle to determine the final course for the Nykredit Copenhagen Marathon 2012. This weekend President of Sparta, Niels Jørgen Holdt, and Race director Lars Nissen set our on their bikes to carry out the first preliminary examination of the marathon course.
Also this year the race distinguishes itself as a true city marathon with several entertainment hot spots, great urban atmosphere and lots of spectators, and the runners will pass by many beautiful, historic sights and buildings in Inner Copenhagen.
As in the previous years the racers will cross the start and finish line at Islands Brygge, continue over the Langebro bridge and into central Copenhagen. Runners will pass by attractions such as the Tivoli, the City Hall, Rosenborg Castle, the parliament building Christiansborg, The Royal Library and Nyhavn. And of course you will get a glance at The Little Mermaid.
The course will later be measured and approved by the Danish Athletics Federation and IAAF.
We’ve entered a new year and a new running season, and May 20 is getting closer. Regardless if you have already begun training towards your Copenhagen Marathon yet, or not, it is a really good idea to do a pre-race fitness test at this time. This enables you to set a realistic goal for yourself or to optimize your training plan in order to reach the goal you’ve already set.
Register for the Nike Marathontest 1 on February 5. The distance is 10 km. At the Nike Marathontest 2 on March 15 we run 15 km, and 20 km at Nike Marathontest 3 on April 15.

All kids are guaranteed a medal and a fun time together with other kids.
The start times are from 10 am to 12.20 pm depending on the year of birth. You can register online here.
It is also possible to register on the official Marathon Sports Expo Thursday 17 and friday 18. The Expo is located just next to the start and finish area.
