THURSDAY

North Zealand Tour: The Louisiana Museum of Modern Art and Frederiksborg Castle – half day.

The tour will start at Louisiana Museum of Modern art. This famous museum is situated in a spacious, old park with a magnificent view across the Sound to Sweden. It is known for its masterpieces of the Cobra Art Group and the Constructivists as well as for a considerable collection of Giacometti’s sculptures. Louisiana is not merely an experience in modern and contemporary art, but a congenial reflection of the interplay between art, architecture and landscape. After Louisiana the tour will pass by Fredensborg Castle the Queen’s official summer residence. It is now also the residence of the Danish Crown Prince. We visit Frederiksborg Castle, Denmark’s biggest and most impressive renaissance castle built by Christian IV in the early 1600. The castle with its unique baroque gardens is today the home of the National Historic Gallery with a considerable collection of historical paintings and portraits from the last 400 years.  We return to Copenhagen early afternoon.
